David RechtDavid A. Recht

David’s practice concentrates in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions, emerging companies and venture capital, the acquisition, licensing and protection of intellectual property, and information technology.

Prior to joining Watson Bennett David was an associate in the corporate department of Wiggin and Dana, LLP, in New Haven, Connecticut.  There David represented emerging growth companies in the private placement of equity and debt securities, both vendor and customer-side clients in global information technology transactions, and a diverse client base including educational institutions, health care providers, and publishers in a variety of intellectual property transactions.  David has also counseled financial institutions, health care providers and service providers on compliance with state, national and international privacy laws. 

David has extensive experience in technology law and contracting issues.  He has taught “Computer and Internet Law” at the Quinnipiac University School of Law, and authored a presentation and guide to aid educational institutions compliance with copyright law.

David was raised in Central New York, and prior to his legal career he was a student and teacher of American history.  He has taught American history and politics at Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College.
